Pastor Steve has served in ordained ministry sine September 11, 1983, and has served Boykins Baptist since Holy Week 2024. He has served churches in both Virginia and North Carolina from small rural congregations to large urban congregations. 

Having earned degrees from Brevard Junior College, Greensboro College and Southern Seminary, he brings a wealth of experience to the ministry. Steve is a natural peacekeeper and strives to share peace with others, as well as with God. He has the uncanny ability to diffuse tense situations, and has been told by those in his ministry orbit that he may bring peace to every situation.

His training in Interim ministry with the Center for Healthy Churches. This training covered many of the challenges that churches face today.

Steve is married to the former Jane Ritchie, currently serves as the musician at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Franklin VA, a position that she has held for 20+ years. They are the proud parents of a son, Noah Jacob Ritchie Gibson, who lives is Austin, TX along with his wife Keari Smith Gibson. Grandchildren include Henry and Claire Gibson, ages 7 and 3 respectfully.
