Good Monday morning to you! I wanted to share with you what’s been on my mind recently.
- Flying Cars – The more that I learn about Elon Musk the more that I yearn to know. I cannot understand for the life of me a person who does not accept the normal, acceptable limits of space and time. Who among us actually thought that the concept of a flying car could become a reality. Elon’s thought process apparently does not know any limits that the rest of us take for granted.
- Election Time – I do not understand all of the emotion and energy that the election process consumes. Every election cycle we witness life long friends become enemies over their choices in the election process. I, as your Pastor will not ever tell you how to vote and who to vote for – that is not my job. But it is my job to encourage you and to remind you to vote. Maybe you are like me – I long for the days where we are able to disagree without becoming mad and losing a friend.
- Thanksgiving – The feast of Thanksgiving occurs every Thanksgiving in our community. The spirit of Thanksgiving is a pivotal part of every day. May that spirit be multiplied so that each day will contain the spirit of Thanksgiving.
- Community Ministry – Our community, like most, has it’s fair share of challenges. It is in the meeting of these challenges that new friendships are formed. I am pleased to partner with the Food Bank and Emmanuel Christian Fellowship Center each Tuesday. Because we all have the need to eat, we share in this human condition. By meeting the needs of others in Jesus’ name, as Matthew 25 indicates, we minister to our Lord. We serve our Lord by serving others. If you have a couple of hours, please join us Tuesdays.
There is one common thread that ties my points together. That central point is this – God has gifted upon each of us certain gifts, but not the same gifts.
Elon Musk’s gift of not accepting cultural norms is not my gift. The people that offer themselves for public service in government is not my gift. But the spirit of Thanksgiving and of community ministry are in the center of my wheelhouse. What are your gifts? How are you utilizing your gifts?
There is no better time to join and offer your gifts to God than now!
Grace and Peace:
Pastor Steve
